And that's what'd draw you out; mac and cheese, blithe sarcasm and a nice-smelling neck when carefulness can't.
I dearly love that summation of the story. Ronon and Sheppard have this whole intense thing going on that'll start coming out from this point on, but there's really something lovely to me about the Rodney/Dex relationship, and I think that's exactly it -- the rough-edged way that Rodney really treats him just like he treats *everybody else in the world* is a big deal in terms of Ronon acclimating to Atlantis. Rodney, in this story and in general, is sort of his first taste of being at home here, exactly because he's not making any kind of special effort with Ronon; he's just being Rodney McKay. And, you know, what the hell, Ronon thinks it's sweet, so clearly it's kismet *g*
there's a tendency to make him above-it-all and totally self-sufficient, which -- where's the fun in that?
Testify! And really, when the writers have gone to such lengths to give us Ronon!angst to play with, what kind of sense does it make not to go for it?
