Oh, man. I empathize with you, I really do. Part of the problem, I think, is that SGA is written in a different language than I am used to reading, and sometimes, it's really tough to figure out. Take for example 'teasing = affection'. It's a rule that underlies almost all of the character interactions, and there are all sorts of implications to that rule that we are not used to thinking about. Such as: no one is held accountable for anything that is a true joke, because all teasing is affectionate. It's part of the fabric of the universe, and that is such an alien concept to me. I think there are jokes that aren't really jokes, but in SGA, that situation does not exist. Adapting to that idea it tough, as so much of my reading is spent looking at the subtext, and to run smack dab into the wall of 'all teasing is affectionate' just...throws me for a loop. I am not used to seeing that.
