I'm not HtH, and I don't even play her on TV, but I don't think she is questioning intensity of engagement or squee. She's saying, "Is squee only legitimate when it's based on the sensation of the TV as a mirror?" She's not questioning the 'what', she's questioning the 'how', and I think Ces made a pretty big landgrab on 'correct' fannish behavior when she posited 'overidentification' as the 'heart' of fandom experience.
