This was a fantastic review, and pretty much echoed everything I thought about the ep. I kept laughing and reading parts of it out loud to my husband (who, not being a fan, just rolled his eyes, but believe me, they were awesome excerpts).

Also, your description of the John and Rodney relationship is exactly how I see them, and I, like you, saw slashiness for the first time ever in this episode. Really interesting.
