60 Teen Wolfs in 60 Days: day 21, Party Guessed
Really, show? A pun? I'm having a hard week, and this season is taxing my patience, and you're giving me an episode title with a motherfucking pun in it?
Well, I do enjoy Lydia fugue states. It's a little demoralizing to know that none of this will actually be relevant to anything else happening this season, but it's a nice break from people standing in rooms talking about kanimas. Also, I appreciate that Peter is so much more overtly terrifying in Lydia's mind than he is most of the time. Everything is really way worse in Lydia's mind than in reality, isn't it? That's kind of the point of Lydia, the nonstop bloodbath that is her special inner world. And her outer world. Just Lydia's reality in general. She really gets the shittiest supernatural powers, doesn't she? I mean to have to live with, not for show purposes.
A lot of this episode is taken up by the Argent drama, which I recognize is pretty overtly manipulative, but what the hell, it worked on me. It lends a nice Shakespearean overtone to a largely pedestrian season.
I have to give them credit on the Matt thing; they got me to outfox myself. Matt can't be the killer, I thought. They're working so hard to push this “obsessed with Allison/possible serial killer” vibe, so obviously it's a huge fake-out, because everything on Teen Wolf is a total dead-end lie! I feel like the Sicilian in Princess Bride.
SHUT UP, ERICA. Fucking seriously, just shut up.
Oh, what, no jacket and tie tonight, Stiles? Wow, the magic has really gone out of your sad, needy non-relationship, hasn't it?
So the spiked punch is fine, because obviously you need an excuse to manifest your character's fears and all that, it's a classic for a reason. But in-universe – whose idea was that? Peter, I guess? But to what purpose?
Whatever. This season is sapping my will to live. It's an okay episode; the Chris and Victoria and Allison stuff was nice, the nightmares were not too surprising, but overall okay. The Matt stuff was a little heavy-handed and overly tidy (he just so happens to be the one thrown in the pool in a way that brings all the plot threads together, okay). I wish the weird Lydia/Peter relationship had more of an impact on the season overall, but I still like it. Stiles kept all the numbers for the drag queens who adore him, I like that. Derek admitted that he's fucking useless as an alpha, and I love that. It's fine. We're going to get through this season. It'll be fine.
