OH MAN, I didn't even think about the bite being the subtext there. I read it as sort of helpless denial, like, "I will do something -- I don't know what -- but obviously something! Because this is just *not happening.*" Scott's so used to assuming responsibility for everything at this point that I think it's just his automatic reaction to trouble.
