fic: Hope Chest (due South)

I started writing this a while back, for a flashfiction challenge on the subject of jewelry, but I thought I didn't get it done in time, and then I forgot about it. When I uncovered it this morning, I read it over and thought that actually it was almost finished as it stood. So I added just a touch here and there and called it finished; I haven't really bothered to clean up the tenses, which are kind of wonky, but other than that, I think it's okay. And people have been asking about gen with female characters lately, so the timing seems good. So: from the archives!
