So among our many clever money-saving ideas was that Mary and I would do all the moving on the Athens end of things ourselves, since we had the truck for a whole weekend. Of course, the weekend was 150 degrees, we own unbelievable amounts of crap (much of it wooden and massively heavy), and we are girly. Oh, it got done (although we ended up having to create an extra 24 hours in our schedule for various reasons), but it was TEH SUCK.

And now I will never not hurt again. On the other hand, we made it to North Carolina. On the other hand, we're still waiting for our furniture to arrive (they say tomorrow). On the other hand, we hired people to carry it up to the new apartment, because it's on the third fucking floor, and there's just no way we're capable -- so we have no responsibilities whatsoever as far as that goes. On the other hand, I'm in a constant low-grade panic about the giant truck not fitting in the parking lot or our movers dying of heat exhaustion and their next of kin suing us into next year. On the other hand, the new cable package gives us a DVR and high-speed internet, both of which we deeply deserve. On the other hand, the cats will never speak to us again because of the trauma (Thelma hasn't come out from under the bathroom sink in something like 12 hours). On the other hand, we're *almost done.* On the other hand, we're still sleeping on the damn floor and OW, MY BACK!

Even typing this kind of sucks, because there's no good way to position myself on the floor for typing that doesn't cause me more pain. Hence, I sadly forgo my window of opportunity for a long "Irresistible" post, which is too bad, because I would have valiantly defended it, and clearly it could use the support, if the little bit of reading I've had time to do in the last couple of days is any fair indication. I'd promise to do it later, but by the time I have furniture, I'll have a long "Sateda" post (or twelve) to work on. On "Pegasus Project" I have almost nothing to say because, like most of SG1 lately, it bored me into a quiet stupor -- with the exception of Amanda Tapping's awesome startled expression at "alone in the dark" and Vala's general, across-the-board awesomeness, even when she and Daniel are doing Scenes from My Parents' Marriage ("Which it would take you ELEVEN SECONDS to try!"). Perhaps especially then.

-- I think I was supposed to find Lucius more horrible than I did. That backfired when they cast Richard Kind, who is hilarious and charming no matter what he does. This probably was not quite what they'd hoped for.
-- The whole situation could have been alleviated if Elizabeth had followed up her whole "something's weird with Carson" revelation with, you know, finding out why something was weird with Carson. However, this one time I will refrain from blaming Elizabeth, since it was clearly Carson's bad karma coming back at him -- and NO, I don't mean from the Wraith business. I mean from "Duet," where against all probability, he thought that was actually Rodney and not, you know, the other personality that he knew was inside Rodney's body. That level of stupidity will exact its toll, one way or another.
-- Jason amused me greatly as the Jimmy Fallon of SGA, all but totally unable to keep from cracking up laughing onscreen.
-- For once, someone on SGA was less stupid than I thought they were. When Sheppard and Carson were recaptured by their campfire, I was like, morons, you couldn't stay inside the cloaked jumper? But it was a TRAP! They *wanted* to be recaptured so that Carson could get back into Atlantis and start distributing the serum. That's -- kind of clever, actually! Caught me a bit off-guard.
-- I read enough bodice-rippers in my misspent youth to be unbelievably amused by the standard scene where the villain smarmily threatens the heroine with all the things she won't be able to stop him from doing once they're married, and she is spunky and defiant. Sheppard really *is* the spunkiest girl on Atlantis.
-- There is no way in which this wasn't an Alpha Centauri episode. It could barely be improved on in that respect. Pls to not break my heart next week, Atlantis?
-- How DO they get their hair to go like that?

Yes, I had exactly that reaction too. Also unlike some reviews I've seen I don't think Lucius got off too lightly or that he'll be much of security risk to Atlantis since I'm pretty sure his now ex-wives and the rest of the community won't be very pleased with him and may well have similar ideas as Ronon as to what to do with him. My main problem with the ep was that I have a massive embarrassment squick (which is why I couldn't watch Duet without fast-forwarding either), but that is not really SGA's fault.

I LOVED this episode. (http://girly-curl-3.livejournal.com/67477.html) I'm glad to know I'm not alone!

I thought Ronon giggling was awesome, as well as the surprisingly clever trap. And John hitting Carson, all "buck up!"

OK, now I need that on an icon! *g*

Hee.

We're leaving early AM Saturday for NC, arriving late Sunday. I was hoping maybe we could do lunch on Monday or Tuesday? I'd palm my spouse and kid off on my dad... ;) We head down east on Weds. morning.

I'm also hoping I can introduce you to the joys of Elmo's Diner. Ooooooh, what I'd give for a place like that 'round here!
