It may not be corrective within fandom, but it certainly is correctly against general reading and evaluative practices, isn't it? How often do we all justify fandom to outsiders by offering its aesthetic values? (Think back to the Tiptree debates!) I think we may value and reward squee within the community, but that community is embattled on all fronts...which I think was in part what Ces was talking about...
