1. Got up at UNGODLY HOUR OF MORNING, aka, 9:30. What? I work nights. I get home at 10 or 11, I lead my life until about 4 in the morning, and then I sleep til noon. It is my way. 9:30? Is like getting up at five in the fucking morning for me.

2. Stood in line at gas station, clutching my Starbucks iced coffee can and thinking, somewhat hypocritically, shouldn't all y'all be at work by now? Go to work! Also in line, my boss, who was buying an armful of 50 Cent's brand of "vitamin water," because although he is a pretty nice person, he's kind of a schmuck. Seriously, branded, celebrity-endorsed vitamin water? Snerk.

3. Got a very badly needed haircut, which was the whole reason for #1. Am no longer nearly so frizzy or split-endy.

4. Salon is across the street from Whole Foods, so I went to Whole Foods. Whole Foods! I love Whole Foods. Actually, I just love food, and I -- this is probably weird, but I browse at grocery stores. They have all kinds of cool imported stuff and sauce and exotic cheese and herb-infused vinegar and just the most fun things in the world! And Whole Foods is better still, because its just so damn well-designed, as compared to the typical fluorescent hell of the industrial supermarket. At Whole Foods, everything looks warm and cluttered and festive and diverse, and you just feel like you're surrounded by food, which is not always the case in your standard-brand supermarket (what *is* some of that stuff?) The bulk bins alone are pure entertainment for me! Bought some chopped spinach, puttanesca sauce, and Pyramid Apricot Weizen beer (I was unsure of that last -- much as I love beer and fruity drinks, I wasn't sure how I would feel about beer that *was* a fruity drink. It is fully awesome, however.)

5. Ate lunch at the Whole Foods cafe, which is called -- no, I'm not making this up -- PENGUINS. Why? I don't know! Whatever -- Penguins!! And there are big penguins painted all over the place, dancing and skateboarding and God knows what. Had turkey meatballs and rice pilaf and pasta salad and mashed sweet potatoes and ginger ale and, mmm, food! I love food.

6. Visited my Local Comics/Gaming Shop. In spite of not having gamed in, I dunno, something like seven years now, I am still a sucker for $40 roleplaying books. I could have *licked* the GURPS Bio-Tech book, I really could. Today, however, I didn't buy anything. I just feel better about life when I get to pet them occasionally. It's like how other people stop in the pet store just to check out the puppies.

7. Driving home, had MOST AMAZING IDEA EVER for funky urban fantasy about dimensional rifts between our world and the world of the carnivorous-but-civilized lizard people, centered at MIT. Lizards! Raw meat! Boston! Clash of cultures! Highly kinky lizard sex! Nerds! Nerd lizards!

8. Wrote five pages of in-depth lizard cultural analysis.

9. Napped.

10. Made spinach lasagna.

11. Knocked off a few more [livejournal.com profile] sgdiverse_award categories. Feeling very optimistic at this point about my ability to read every story and vote in every category, but that could just be the beer talking. I'm all the way up to the first subdivision of Lorne/Parrish stories. I have mixed feelings about Lorne/Parrish, in that theoretically, they make me feel good about the creativity and general weirdness of fandom, but in actual practice, they make me irrationally angry, because wtf, Parrish is not a character, he has like three lines of dialogue, and there were more stories nominated in Lorne/Parrish than any other category for these awards, and a part of me is always like, Look, with seven title-credits characters over three years and at least three other significant recurring characters, if you can't find someone you want to write about in this fandom, why don't you find a fandom where you can? Which is a terrible thing to think, and I feel terrible about it; I offer no defense, because it's entirely indefensible, but hey, we all have our issues. I've also never actually read a Lorne/Parrish story, for that very reason. I'm hoping that now that I have a pressing reason to do so, I'll gain a whole new perspective and stop being such a fucking bitch about the whole thing. It could happen!

12. The rest of my night is up for grabs. When Mary gets home, we'll probably watch this week's So You Think You Can Dance? episodes (mmmm, ballroom! HOT), and then I want to write, but I'm having trouble committing to either thing I'm working on now -- the thick, plotty, character-driven Bride of Ronon, or the wacky, porny Rodney/Ronon hijinks -- because every time I work on one of them, I feel like I'm neglecting the other. Girls, girls! You're both pretty, okay? On the one hand, Bride of Ronon has *ballroom dancing.* On the other hand, the R/R has, um, R/R. Clearly you can see my problem.
