oh wow...this really plays to a couple of my kinks, but I particularly love the distinction you make between being a sub and being a masochist. I think it might be more accurate to characterize Fraser as a masochist than a sub. I can make the mental leap to put Fraser in a sub's position...being in control so much of the time, it would thrill him to be able to trust someone enough to give up that control. But I think it's less of a leap to Masochist!Fraser. After all, Victoria really didn't dom him, but she sure as hell caused him a boatload of pain. And he basically welcomed her back with open arms.
What an awakening for Ray, too! To discover in the heat of battle, as it were, that he had this person inside him who loved giving Fraser everything he wanted, who had the dark, ruthless strength (to use your words) to meet the challenge of loving Fraser.
