Summary: Cold and flu season, like many other things, sucks more in space.
Warnings: A for Angst. The astute reader will notice that I hardly ever warn for angst, and might then imagine I mean rather a *lot* of angst. That's your warning. All sales final.

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza for beta ("You're at about an eight, and I need you at about a four...") and as per usual to [livejournal.com profile] marythefan for encouragement and general evil ("What, you think I'm going to tell you *not* to do it?")

"You’re standing here telling us that half the galaxy, not to mention our friends, could fall over dead by Christmas, and you’re bringing us what, exactly, to deal with this problem? Amoxicillin and chicken soup?"

Ow. :(

Very well done -- and still a rare theme to see in the fandom, even after all the time that's passed since you wrote it. I don't know what hurt (happily) the most, Teyla turning away from John and knowing just what to say to hurt him, or Rodney going to pieces in John's arms and then going utterly flat, or Ronon quietly discussing what to do with his body, or ... Elizabeth's mention of the devastation of the Aztec empire was perfectly phrased and wholly appropriate. I liked Cadman and Carson's conversation about having a child in the face of so much death, and giving something back to Pegasus. It seems so dreadfully inadequate, but what else can they do?

I really loved this story. It was so tender and the characters were all very believable and that made the end hurt so much more. Wonderful, wonderful job.

Thank you so much! Disaster stories are so easy to accidentally overdo and push them into the realm of unintentional parody. I'm really glad this one worked for you.

This was so lovely, and so incredibly sad. I don't know how you had the stomach to do it. But you did, and you did a wonderful job.

I don't usually read het (I'm a McShepper normally), but the description of the balcony scene that was recced to me drew me in. And I have to say, it was even more lovely than my reccer suggested.

Teyla's almost reverent definition of what John means to her...the sweet heart of me. It was so incredibly lovely. I actually have tears starting just thinking about it. It's like you articualted something I've only been daydreaming about for years. Thank you so much for that.

Thank you! It was tough to write, but at the same time, it's fun to explore sides of a character's life you know they'll probably never have to deal with in canon. It's all pretend, you know? *g*

I'm really glad you enjoyed the story!
