Gretchen Wilson vs. Natalie Maines.

I'm sayin'.

(Oh, in other news, North Carolina is cool, and I rolled up the Praxis II and smoked it, even without knowing what in the almighty fuck a dangling participle is. Now, if only we had a house and jobs, we would be cooking with gas.)

Aren't you moving to NC because you have a job there? I'm confused.

We're moving to NC because there *are* jobs there -- many, many of them. But we can't apply for any of them until we actually have teaching licenses, and part of getting those is passing the Praxis II. Which is what I did last weekend. Now there's 4-6 weeks to get our scores back, and then we can look for contracts. Last year, Wake County alone (which is one of a handful of school districts in the greater Triangle area) started school with over 300 teaching positions unfilled; NC is in the midst of a drastic teacher shortage. So I'm not really worried about finding a job, but it's a weird waiting thing.

Where'bouts in North Carolina? The Piper just recently moved to Asheville, and Miiiiiiizzzzzzz Tallulah lives in Raleigh.

North Carolina rocks.

Somewhere in the Triangle area; Mary grew up in Raleigh and went to school in Chapel Hill, where she still has friends, so it's a comfortable move in a lot of ways. I'd been to Charlotte and Asheville, but never to Raleigh-Durham until this weekend. And I approve!

Praxis II?

I probably edited some of what you looked at in that case.

So I can blame you if I don't do well! *g* I took the middle school Lang. Arts test, and as I mentioned, I think I actually did do very well. So if you had anything to do with that one...thanks!

Actually, I worked on the practice tests and study guides for that one, so maybe I did! (The language arts ones are always the ones I get stuck reading and trying to answer the questions on. Um, sometimes this puts me way behind schedule. It's kind of an issue.)

Seemed appropriate.

I lived in Chapel Hill for 3 years and it's pretty damn fabulous. Stuff to check out when you get there: Elmo's Diner - the most amazing food and it's cheap - there's one in Durham, one in Carrboro (next to Chapel Hill); Wrightsville Beach - Route 40 South from Raleigh for about 2 hours and poof! beautiful beach; if you like pottery, you'll want to go to Seagove -the whole town makes the stuff in a variety of styles and with different types of clay...great deals and beautiful stuff to be had.

(thank you for indulging my little Carolina nostalgia trip. Good luck with the move.)

Hi, I'm a total random lurker... but if you like lemurs (who doesn't) and are in Durham, you should check out the Duke University Primate Center, they do tours and have lemurs loose in the trees. Check out Duke Chapel for awesome architecture, and Mad Hatters for awesome cookies. Stay far away from the Halifax school district and Crab Tree when it floods. :)
