author's notes: WARNING for CHARACTER DEATH. Dig? D-E-D, dead! He's not just resting his eyes, folks. I originally began this for the flashfic Villains challenge, but I decided it didn't quite fit the theme. Nevertheless, it's still not a story meant for sensitive plants. Unofficial soundtrack = the Suzanne Vega song by the same title.

I had to go away and think about this for a while because it's just so painful to contemplate Teyla in this situation. My favorite moment, and one that will stay with me, was when Rodney said, "I feel like the only adult in the whole universe, and you were really always much better at that than I was." That is so, so Rodney, and very touching.

I'm so glad you let her go home with Rodney and Ronon at the end. Thank you.
