So my parents got me a digital camera for my birthday. Technology is something of a trial for me, but so far it's working, and this is the first successful picture I took.
Hth: Hey, I took a picture!
Mary: .... Yes?
Hth: What?
Mary: I thought there was going to be more. Like, what's the picture of, or some kind of story involved.
Hth: It's of the cats. The important part is, I took a picture!
Mary: Oh. In the history of photography, that's not exactly unprecedented.
Hth: IT IS FOR ME!
Anyway, these are the cats! They were sleepy, and I couldn't coax them into doing anything very cute for me. As you can see, I couldn't even coax Louise to look at me. But up top there is Seishirou (fondly known as Dude and/or the Boy), who at least cared enough to wonder briefly why I was calling his name. Also, in the background you can see our seahorse vase (Mary and I collect seahorse paraphinalia, a factoid that those of you who knew me as Betty Plotnick back in popslash fandom will probably appreciate more), and on the floor are videotape boxes of Oz and DVD cases for s3 Atlantis. Just so you know what's been happening with my tv lately, as well. *g*

Date: 2007-12-22 03:13 pm (UTC)From:I can so relate to being technically challenged. My sister got me a digital camera the Christmas before last and I was extremely intimdated. There were batteries, settings, chargers, and accessories to manage. The Guide was next to useless. Still, it was a fun to eventually figure out.

Date: 2007-12-23 04:09 am (UTC)From:So far the camera is pretty user-friendly. I consulted the manual, which told me where to turn the dial for "outdoors" and "quite dark" and "things moving quickly," which I feel are the settings I'm most likely to need. Everything else -- well, like you said, fooling around with expensive equipment you barely understand is awesomely fun!
