On behalf of everyone who's ever felt like a moron after doing that “You too!” when it makes no sense (so, everyone, right?) – thank you, Allison, for making it cute instead of awkward. Also, is that guy yelling at Scott and making him look a little bitey – is that Greenberg? I feel like it's probably Greenberg.

Moar Danny! Again, it just fills me with endless joy that they're making Danny the official voice of “Hey, guys, Scott's all right after all!” (Is there any Scott/Danny in the world? I don't know if I could make sense out of it, but I'm just so damn fond of both of them that I might forgo the whole “making sense” part in this case.)

Nice meta joke about the movie. I feel like Peter is a great character for saying these random meta sorts of things. I don't know exactly why; I'll have to think about that a bit more.

Aw, Derek. I like that he's siding with his kinfolk, because of course he is – the Hales are clearly the Creepy Insular Family in the Woods, and you don't break that kind of conditioning easily – but also he's grown just fond enough of these idiots to have faintly disturbed eyebrows when Peter directly harms Scott.

Ohhhh, crap. I'm just now thinking that maybe Derek never did side with Peter at all? Did he plan all along to gut his uncle when the time was right? See, I completely bought the Creepy Clannish Hales Stick Together thing the first time I saw it, but now I need to be watching to see whether or not this feels like a big fake-out.

I honestly can't tell at this point if Scott has chemistry with everyone, or if I literally just don't care who Scott makes out with anymore because I've decided it should be all the people and that's that. I'm hoping that when I finally start reading fic in this fandom, there will be a shit ton of it where the premise is “alphas get to fuck everything because alpha.” I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but that's going about as well as “trying not to get your hopes up” usually does.

Other than Jackson, of course, because fuck that guy.

Wow, Lydia and Scott getting down in Coach's office is the actual worst-kept secret in the entire town, huh? I guess the full moon is not the best possible time to plan anything actually sneaky. Oh, I'm sorry, high school. I meant, high school is not the best possible time to plan anything actually sneaky.

I think Stiles is adjusting to living with werewolves. His “Dude, my jeep” was really pretty resigned, for a guy who loves his jeep a lot.

And, you know, fuck Jackson, but he's saying pretty much the same thing I said yesterday about Scott having quite different motivating forces than other people. Being a werewolf doesn't ruin everyone's life – just the life Scott had planned, where nobody shoots at him, ever ever ever. I mean, if you're not too committed to that, then being a werewolf is fucking awesome!

Stiles plying his dad with liquor is a little creepier, knowing now that the Sheriff used to have some disordered drinking going on. I felt like the “lowest circle of hell” comment was a little over the top, given how perfectly free Stiles generally feels to manipulate his dad and use his access to the department, but it makes more sense if he knows he's leaning on a weak spot that's really truly a weak spot.

Okay, this whole Peter/Melissa thing – this is absolutely a Lost Boys homage, right? It has to be intentional. The whole “We can all be a happy family, once I bang your mom and press you into service as part of my brotherly and kinda gay band of monsters!” – no way do you accidentally replicate that. Especially when you've set up the “kill the Master/Alpha to save the bitten human” thing. And it's not like we're talking about some super obscure source material! Lost Boys is the ur-text of adolescent horror-soaps. It's the Dracula of this entire genre.

So not that there aren't all kinds of reasons to want Jackson dead, but – why exactly does Derek want Jackson dead? I guess because he knows too much about werewolves and might lead the Argents to... Well, but the Argents already know as much about where Derek is as Jackson does, which is “somewhere around town.” And he doesn't know about Peter, I don't think. So really all he does know is that Scott is a werewolf, so is this intended to protect Scott's identity? That does sort of make sense if Peter is trying to show Scott that being part of his pack will increase his security. But it still feels slightly tenuous, so am I missing something? What does Derek gain from Jackson's death, other than, you know, what we all gain from Jackson's death, which is a little more sunshine in the world? And if it's not a totally empty threat, the whole theory that this is to extend pack/alpha protection to Scott as an inducement to join is pretty undercut by also threatening to kill Scott. I'm definitely missing something.

And, yes, Scott has to save him, because that's Scott's gig. I'm glad he does that. Jackson doesn't deserve it, but I like that the show has a pretty pro-mercy ethic overall. Scott isn't saving him because Jackson is a lovely person and has earned or deserves Scott putting himself at risk. It's just happening because you really shouldn't murder even terrible people. Sometimes in the interest of Raising the Stakes and Making Things Personal, shows like this sort of imply that things don't get really serious until someone the hero loves is in jeopardy, and I really do like that Scott takes is pretty seriously even when someone he hates might die.

I'm 100% in favor of the reveal here that Deaton is the Werewolf Veterinarian, but that exchange is clumsily written in a way that would be super easy to fix and it bugs the crap out of me. 90% of the time he's mostly treating cats and dogs is redundant and weakens the joke. It's either 90% of the time he's treating cats and dogs, or he mostly treats cats and dogs. (“Mostly?” “Mostly...”) Either works, but not both. Not both, show! Jesus, way to ruin a good reveal.

The last-last reveal is good, though. I don't know why I found it as shocking as I did; it's not like it isn't totally obvious that Derek and Kate have to face off again, and he doesn't seem at all interested in tracking her down, so if I'd thought it through, I would have known she'd have to capture him. But I didn't think it through, and it caught me totally off guard.
